Is our only option purchasing a third party tool to upload the existing data? I'm surprised that MS doesn't already provide a tool for this.

Would you recommend setting up a separate Windows computer to act as the local file store, and install the OneDrive for Business sync client on it, and have everyone map to it? This still runs into the issue of being capped at 20K items, but it gets us half there. User is on Google Fiber so he had 1TB to play with. We ended up having to use Google Drive to sync with a local NAS store and still be uploaded in the cloud. We had a NAS server that was up to the task, however OneDrive for Business would not see it as a valid directory. This way users in the office could map to a network drive share with the data, which would sync to OneDrive at the same time for out of office users. Also, the 20000 item limit didn't help in that we had at least double that number of items to sync.Įven if we did get everything synced, we still needed an on-site local repository of the data.
